Default What is a half-kill and kill in terms of poker?

When a card room lists some games they are spreading they list that they sometimes have a kill or half-kill, what is that?

Any "kill" is most likely to be found in an Omaha 8 or Better (Hi-Lo) game (though it can be implemented in most any kind of poker). A kill is simply an action enhancing requirement, which is usually double whatever the big blind is, and is put in to play after two hands in which there is no low, or in the event that a single player "scoops" the pot with both the nut high, as well as the nut low. If after two consecutive hands with no low, the big and small blinds will double according to where the button is located. If a single player scoops the pot, that particular player will automatically post a big blind at double the structured amount. The "half kill" simply means that another half of the blinds will be posted, instead of double. The purpose of a kill, whether it be full or half, is to enhance the action and make bigger pots. It also tends to break up the monotony, and add a little more entertainment value to the game.

If the same player wins 2x in a row. the blinds will be 2x more than it was.Example:it the blinds was 4sb and 8bb and the same player wins 2x in a row. the next hand will have to be a kill pot which means the blinds will now be 8sb and 16bb (6sb and 12bb for 1/2 kill) for the next hand or until the player that won twice losses a hand.

most often a kill pot happened when someone wins 2 pots in a row. the first pot has no size requirement but the second pot will... ususally it must be 10xs the big blind.in some games they will let anyone kill the pot from anyposition buy putting out 2xs the big blind... other times you have to be under the gun.a kill pot is 2xs the big blind so 1/2 kill would be 1 and 1/2 times the big blind
